2020 DE Josh Griffis Committed To Florida Ahead Of Today's Game

Before Florida landed a big win over Tennessee, it got one in the recruiting game. The Gators landed class of 2020 defensive end Josh Griffis this afternoon.

Griffis is just a high school sophomore, so the Green Cove Springs native has not been rated, and there isn't a ton of information about his early recruitment yet.

However, if Florida is jumping in early, he is probably one to watch. The 6-foot-3, 220 pounder picked up a scholarship offer this afternoon, and jumped on it during a visit to Gainesville today.

He announced the decision on Twitter.

From 247Sports:

"I committed," Griffis said. "It's just where I live, it's home. It's home for me."

[...]

"He offered me right then. I got excited and committed right then. It was my favorite team. I liked Tim Tebow and I watch CeCe Jefferson a lot."

He is the first 2020 commit for the Gators. According to 247Sports' database, Florida joins FAU, Louisville, Miami, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M as schools with 2020 commits already.
