Oklahoma-Texas may be Saturday’s biggest rivalry game. But LSU-Florida is the most-important game of the weekend in regards to the College Football Playoff. Both teams control their own destiny.
The loser of Saturday’s game will fall behind in a tight SEC-battle. Alabama and Georgia likely have the best shot to reach the CFP. But the winner will keep pace with the league’s best.
Because Saturday’s contest carries so much weight, players of both teams have engaged in some trash-talk. LSU WR Justin Jefferson is the latest to chime in on the Gators ahead of the game.
“We going after ’em,” Jefferson said on SEC Network’s Marty & McGee Show, via saturdaydownsouth.com. “We definitely, we want to win this game. We need revenge. I mean, they beat us last year. And (LSU quarterback Joe Burrow) threw a pick the last play. So I mean, we going out for ’em. I mean, we definitely don’t like them. They don’t like us. We know that. They say they’re DBU. We say we DBU, so we definitely going to go for their heads this game.”
Oh boy. Saturday will be a fun one.
The Tigers have revenge on the mind in this one. In last year’s contest, the 22nd ranked Gators shocked No. 5 LSU in a 27-19 upset.
Which team will live up to its trash-talk on Saturday?
LSU-Florida kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
