Marco Rubio Brings Up Florida State Fans At Debate, Says He'd Want To Be Called "Gator" As President

The Florida-Florida State rivalry found its way into the discussion at the second Republican presidential debate tonight.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, a UF graduate, recently made a Florida State joke while appearing on the radio in Iowa. "I think there has to be a school where people who can’t get into Florida can go to college. And so that’s why we have Florida State,” he said. Florida State fans and the university's president weren't happy

This evening, Rubio brought up that joke. He was asked what he would want his Secret Service codename to be if elected president. His response: Gator.
