On paper, Florida-LSU is the most-anticipated matchup of this weekend in college football. It will be two undefeated top-10 teams with conference title and playoff aspirations dueling in a terrific environment.
The Gators are coming off an impressive win over previously unbeaten Auburn last weekend. Dan Mullen is known as an offensive-minded coach, but his team’s defense is leading the way this fall.
As for LSU, they are usually known for their defense, but it is the Tigers’ explosive offense that has turned heads in 2019. Quarterback Joe Burrow is a legitimate Heisman contender.
Appearing on SportsCenter Tuesday night, noted SEC pundit Paul Finebaum offered his prediction for this game. He’s rolling with the Tigers to get the job done at home.
“I think in the end, the offense of LSU is going to get the nod,” Finebaum said, via 247Sports. “Joe Burrow has been unbelievable. He was at Ohio State a couple years ago, trying to beat out Dwayne Haskins for the job. That feels like forever (ago). This offense for LSU is as good as I have ever seen.
“The defense is not quite as good and the Florida defense has only given up one touchdown drive this year in the first game of the season, but in the end, I like Tiger Stadium at night.”
Florida-LSU is set for 8 p.m. ET Saturday night from Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge.
Expect a raucous environment. This might be LSU’s best team since 2011, and the Tigers want to make sure they are undefeated for their matchup with Alabama next month.
