Quincy Wilson follows in the footsteps of position-mate Jalen “Teez” Tabor in guaranteeing a win over rival Tennessee.
Florida has defeated Tennessee 11 straight times, and the Gators’ defensive backs will let you know all about it. Tabor spent his off-season trolling the Vols at every possible turn. Now, cornerback Quincy Wilson has guaranteed that the team will make it 12 in a row this weekend. And he did so with a very interesting quote about ducks and trucks that we don’t really know what to make of.
“We have a message from DBU to Tennessee,” Wilson said. “Have you ever seen a duck pull a truck? Ducks don’t pull trucks. Nobody has ever seen a duck pull a truck. Florida Gators are going to win, simple as that.”
247Sports discovered that it is probably a reference to the 1990s television show Martin. Apparently the Vols are the duck, and beating Florida is “pulling a truck.” An interesting way to phrase it, but considering how lopsided the series has been since 2004, we do understand the bravado here.
Tennessee entered the season as the SEC East favorite, and despite shaky performances against Appalachian State and Ohio to start the year, it is a 6.5 or 7-point favorite in most sportsbooks, per OddsShark. Florida will be without starting quarterback Luke Del Rio, who is out with a sprained MCL. Austin Appleby, a former starter at Purdue, will be in his place. None of that matters, according to Wilson and the rest of “DBU.” Ducks don’t pull trucks, after all.
