One of the best recruits in the country hasn't decided where he'll play college football yet, but five-star running back Zach Evans is making some progress. The talented recruit from Texas will be going on a visit with a top SEC program next month.
Evans has changed his mind several times over the past few months. He was set to play for Georgia, but it then came out that Georgia elected to not submit his Letter of Intent, effectively severing ties with him.
Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Texas A&M have emerged as potential homes for Evans in 2020. It's very possible he chooses one of the three programs in the near future. However, there's another SEC team making a run for his commitment.
According to Blake Alderman of 247Sports, Evans has scheduled a visit with the Florida Gators for the weekend of March 20. Florida has plenty of firepower joining the team for next season, but Dan Mullen's 2020 class doesn't have a commitment from a running back.
Landing a player of Evans' stature would be quite the addition for the Gators.
Evans is the No. 16 overall recruit and No. 2 running back from his class, per 247Sports.
Since the clock is ticking for Evans to make a decision, the Gators may have the final chance to make a strong impression on him.
We'll continue to provide updates on Evans' recruitment.
