Three-star athlete Corey Wren might not be the most hyped prospect in the Class of 2020, but he has one thing that no coach can teach: Speed. Now it appears that a major program will be getting adding the track star to the mix today.
According to 247Sports, Wren is making his college football commitment announcement tonight. He is widely expected to announce his commitment to the University of Georgia, with 91-percent of 247 crystal ball predictions tabbing him for the Dawgs.
Wren recently narrowed down his final three to Georgia, Houston, and Arizona State. However, his Twitter page has recently included dozens of retweets from eager Georgia fans.
247Sports rates Wren as the No. 515 overall prospect in the country. He is the No. 35 athlete in the country, and the No. 23 prospect from the state of Louisiana.
He was originally going to make his announcement later this summer, but has his mind made up, and has elected to move things up. From 247:
"Honestly, I was thinking about committing in late July, around my birthday, or late August, but I am just ready to get the ball rolling and focus in on the next level," Wren said. "I know where I want to go, so why not just commit? That way I can key in on my senior season and perfecting my craft."
Whoever does land Wren will be getting a bonafide speedster. Per Rusty Mansell, he can run the 100-meter dash in a blazing 10.4-seconds.
In addition to running a sub-11.00 second 100-meter dash multiple times, he is also a two-time Louisiana Division I indoor 60-meter champion.
Suffice it to say, Kirby Smart might have one heck of a useful speedster joining his ranks pretty soon.
Wren's announcement is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET today.
