Deangelo Gibbs, one of the nation's best safeties, announced his top five schools, and the date on which he'll be making his decision.
Gibbs, a Loganville, Georgia native, has had a number of huge programs hot on his trail for a few years now, and five remain in the running for his services, all in the SEC: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.
He will be deciding between them on New Year's Day.
Gibbs' name should be very familiar to those who follow SEC recruiting, as he's a major target for all of those teams. He's gotten the full "face painted on the rock" treatment at Tennessee, Georgia took in his cousin as a transfer from Tulsa this summer, and Alabama's Nick Saban visited his high school this week, notably landing his helicopter in the middle of Grayson High School's football field.
247Sports has Gibbs as the No. 3 safety in the nation, and the No. 4 player in Georgia, for the class of 2017.
New Year's week is a big one for all five of those programs, which play in bowl games between December 30 and January 2. It just got even bigger, with Gibbs making his choice on the first.
