In perhaps the last big inter-division matchup in the SEC this year, the Georgia Bulldogs head to Jordan-Hare Stadium for a showdown with the Auburn Tigers.
Georgia enters this game on a three-game winning streak, and will clinch the SEC East title with a win over either Auburn or Texas A&M. What they absolutely need to avoid though is a loss. A two-loss season would almost ensure they miss the College Football Playoff, even if they go on to win the SEC Championship.
Auburn is basically out of SEC title contention, having lost to LSU and Florida already. But at 7-2 on the season and with the Iron Bowl coming up, they can still have a terrific finish to the season.
ESPN’s computer model believes that Auburn has a slight edge in this game. The computer model gives the Tigers a 52.6 percent chance to win this Saturday’s game.
Auburn has struggled against Georgia in recent years, losing five of the last six and the 2017 SEC Championship Game. But each of the Tigers’ last three wins against the Bulldogs have come from Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Perhaps at home Gus Malzahn will have a winning formula.
The game will be played at 3:30 p.m. EST on CBS.
