The former Bulldogs' star passed away.
Lamar Heard, a former SEC basketball star and the captain of Georgia's 1983 Final Four team, passed away this week. He was 55.
The cause of his death is yet to be known.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Heard had fallen ill recently and had been in the hospital.

The cause of death was not immediately known. However, he had fallen ill suddenly earlier this month and had been hospitalized since in Atlanta, according to persons with knowledge of the situation. Heard’s family is asking for privacy at this time.
Heard, Georgia's all-time leader in steals at the time he left school, was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs and went on to play professionally overseas in Israel.
Services will be held next weekend.
