Two of the best teams in college football will meet in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, as the Baylor Bears will take on the Georgia Bulldogs on New Year’s Day.
Baylor fell short in overtime to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship, whereas Georgia was blown out by LSU in the SEC Championship.
When it comes to experience in big games, the edge has to go to the Bulldogs. Kirby Smart and Jake Fromm have been in this situation before, but last year they were upset by the Texas Longhorns in the 2019 Sugar Bowl.
Even though it’s not a College Football Playoff matchup, ESPN is sending one of its best announcing teams to New Orleans for the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
In a press release, ESPN announced that Sean McDonough, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe will be on the call for the Baylor-Georgia game.
Sean McDonough, Todd Blackledge, and Holly Rowe travel to New Orleans for the Allstate Sugar Bowl featuring No. 5 Georgia vs. No. 7 Baylor (8:30 p.m.) on New Year’s Day.
This could be the moment where Matt Rhule earns his signature victory as Baylor’s head coach. Defeating an SEC program on such a big stage also might boost NFL teams’ interest in hiring him.
Kickoff for this game is at 8:45 p.m. ET from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
It should be fun to watch these teams clash in their fifth all-time meeting.
