We have a shootout at today’s Cocktail Party. No. 8 Florida leads No. 6 Georgia football 31-21, and the Bulldogs just lost quarterback Stetson Bennett to injury.
Bennett was off to a rough start during today’s huge SEC East battle. He was just 3-for-9 for 63 yards, though he did find Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint for a 32-yard touchdown. The wide receiver suffered a gruesome leg injury on the play.
Now, Bennett is out as well. The former walk-on quarterback took a big shot on a fumbled snap, and had to leave the game. That leaves the game to Mathis, who was very ineffective after being named the Week 1 starter earlier this season.
Cameras cut over to Mathis on the Georgia sideline at a very unfortunate moment. After showing Bennett jogging to the locker room, Mathis appeared to drill an equipment manager with a warmup throw.

Head on a swivel, Georgia football equipment manager. Head on a swivel.
Mathis has completed his only pass of the day so far, for five yards. Florida has pushed things to double-digits though.
Kyle Trask continues his impressive season, and is 17-for-23 for 312 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception so far. Florida looked to have a major advantage at the quarterback position entering the game, and that has borne out so far.
We’re just seconds away from halftime of this big game. CBS in on the broadcast.
