An unhappy Georgia football fan is aiming to solve the team's kicking woes in a very modern way: by using GoFundMe.
Georgia has used two kickers this season in replacing four-year letterwinner Marshall Morgan. Both William Ham and Rodrigo Blankenship are walk-ons, and neither has kicked field goals well. Ham is 3-of-7, including 0-of-3 from 30 yards or longer, and Blankenship has missed his lone field goal attempt.
A Bulldog fan named Chad Carter from Flowery Branch, Ga., has elected to start a GoFundMe in order to finance a scholarship kicker. He created the GoFundMe on Saturday, when the Bulldogs lost 45-14 to Ole Miss.
The GoFundMe reads:
As a UGA fan I have found it very hard to watch the team struggle with special teams this year. With 3 games played we continue to have issues getting it through the uprights. Seems like Kirby doesn't wanna provide a scholarship for a kicker and would rather use it elsewhere. As painful that it is to watch any contributions would help to find another consistent kicker like we've had in the past! Thank you true Georgia fans
Unfortunately for Chad, the movement has only generated $10 worth of donations, well short of its $25,000 goal.
Maybe with some more time, it will gain steam and money.
