Georgia head coach Kirby Smart went on The Paul Finebaum Show yesterday and discussed how freshman Jake Fromm is pushing Jacob Eason.
Sophomore Jacob Eason is the favorite to start for the Georgia Bulldogs this upcoming season, but there appears to be at least one legitimate challenger for the starting role: early enrollee Jake Fromm. Fromm, the No. 3 ranked pro-style quarterback in the 2017 class according to 247Sports, has apparently been pushing Eason in practices per head coach Kirby Smart. He talked about it briefly on The Paul Finebaum Show yesterday.
“(Eason’s) also got a little competition going as well, this spring, with a young man by the name of Jake Fromm,” Smart said. “That part has helped as well. I think it’s been good to have Jake in meetings, and (Eason) realizes: Hey, this kid is coming up on my tail pretty quick.”

Is it realistic for Fromm to take over the starting job? Probably not, but it can’t hurt that he’s pushing Eason to become better. Eason threw for 2,340 yards last year, along with 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
