Georgia RB Sony Michel Broke His Arm Sunday, Had Successful Surgery

Georgia running back Sony Michel suffered a broken forearm Sunday evening and underwent successful surgery to repair the injury on Monday morning, the program announced last night.

According to multiple reports, Michel suffered the injury while riding an ATV, but Georgia did not confirm this. His recovery timetable is unspecified, but he is expected to make a complete recovery.

Michel is expected to form a lethal 1-2 punch with Nick Chubb in the Bulldogs' backfield this season. He rushed for 1,161 yards and eight touchdowns on 219 carries in 2015, taking over the starting workload after Chubb suffered a season-ending knee injury in October.

Michel's status for UGA's season opener against Georgia on Sept. 3 is unknown.
