This week’s edition of the College Football Playoff rankings provided plenty of interesting insight. One thing’s for sure: the sixth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs control their own fate. This weekend they get a shot from 5-3 Missouri.
Despite a horrific loss to South Carolina, the playoff committee made it clear that one-loss Georgia still has a chance at the playoff. But to get there, the Bulldogs will probably need to win out, including winning the SEC title game.
First things first though. No. 6 Georgia will face the Missouri Tigers on Saturday evening.
The Tigers are 5-3 overall and 2-2 in SEC play. Missouri is coming off a bye week, which came at the perfect time. The Tigers are on a two-game losing streak, dropping games to Kentucky and Vanderbilt in late October.
Will a bye week help turn things around for Missouri against an elite Georgia team?

Here’s the details for Saturday’s SEC contest:
Game Time: 7 p.m. ET
Spread: Georgia -16.5
Announcers: Steve Levy, Brian Griese, Todd McShay, Molly McGrath
While Georgia hasn’t looked sharp every week, the team is coming off of a huge win against Florida. As the 16.5-point line shows, the Bulldogs are significant favorites in Athens.
It probably doesn’t help matters that Mizzou quarterback Kelly Bryant, the transfer from Clemson, is a game-time decision. Without him, it is hard to see Barry Odom’s team pulling an upset.
A win would push Georgia one step closer to another SEC East title and trip to Atlanta for the conference title game.
