Last week, Jackson Muschamp, the son of South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Will Muschamp, announced his commitment. The quarterback recruit decided to head West, committing to Colorado State.
Just a few days later, though, Muschamp changed his mind.
The three-star quarterback recruit told 247Sports he decided to join the Georgia Bulldogs 2020 recruiting class as a preferred walk-on.
Here’s what he had to say about the decision.
“When I decided not to go to Colorado State, I did it pretty quickly after I had returned from that visit. I just realized what type of commitment it was to go away from home. I love the people, the coaches, and Colorado State This decision had nothing to do with that. That is a special place.
“Just thinking about it more, that opportunity to go to Georgia, and I have always wanted to go there. They never really stopped recruiting me since I went to camp there last summer. It was just an opportunity I could not really pass up. I am fortunate enough to be in a situation where I could go walk on somewhere like Georgia in the first place. I am super excited about it.”
Muschamp is ranked the No. 97 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2020, per 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.
Instead of going to South Carolina to join his father, he’ll compete in the SEC East.
