James Williams, one of the top recruits in the entire 2021 class, could be nearing a decision. The five-star safety has cut his list down to five schools.

One of the finalists once tabbed Williams among their 2021 pledges. He had been committed to the Miami Hurricanes until May, when he reopened his recruitment.

He had been committed for over a year at that time, and in his announcement said he still "bleeds orange and green." As his profile has expanded, he wanted to take a step back and reassess things.

Now, Williams is the No. 4 overall player in the class, the top safety, and the top player in talent-rich Florida, per 247Sports.

Last night, he announced the new top five. Miami is still in the mix, joined by Alabama, Auburn, Clemson and Georgia.

It doesn't get much more loaded than that for a big-time recruit.

As of today, three 247 crystal ball predictions have been logged for Williams. All three have him joining the Georgia Bulldogs.

Williams made a trip to Athens back during the summer, along with a host of other five-star recruits.

The Dawgs currently have a pair of 2021 commits, giving UGA the No. 19 class in the country early on. The Miami class he decommitted from is No. 1 as of today, with an impressive 12 early commits. The Hurricanes have a habit of landing guys very early, and seeing a number of them reopen their recruitments and head elsewhere, as has happened with James Williams. We'll see if Manny Diaz can bring him back into the fold.
