The fourth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs took care of business against rival Georgia Tech on Saturday. But there was a major injury scare for arguably Georgia’s best overall player.
RB D’Andre Swift suffered an injury scare in the third quarter against Georgia Tech. Swift landed awkwardly after getting tackled, suffering an apparent upper body injury.
Fortunately for the Dawgs, it doesn’t appear to be too serious. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart addressed the injury situation after the Bulldogs big win.
“We think he’s [Swift] is going to be fine,” Smart said after the game, via Seth Emerson of The Athletic.

Emerson continues to point out in his tweet that Smart clarified Swift has a shoulder contusion. It doesn’t sound like it will be much of a setback for Georgia’s RB.
This is great news for Georgia. The Bulldogs moved to 11-1 after their win over Georgia Tech. They’ll now get ready to face LSU in the SEC championship game next week.
If Georgia has any shot at upsetting the Tigers, they’ll have to rely on Swift as they’ve done all season. QB Jake Fromm has been good, but not great this year. Swift has carried the Dawgs to plenty of wins this season – not to mention Georgia’s terrific defense.
The SEC Championship game will take place next Saturday on Dec. 7.
