Believe it or not, college football’s Week 12 is in the books – the end of the regular season is near. True contenders have emerged and each team’s final games are pivotal in regards to the post-season.
Week 12 featured several exciting contests which may go a long way in determining the College Football Playoff participants. A few teams came away with statement victories.
ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit has unveiled his top five teams of the weekend. To no surprise whatsoever, Oklahoma tops the list. The Sooners put together a thrilling comeback to take down undefeated Baylor in a 34-31 victory.
Check out Herbstreit’s other top teams of the week in the list below:
- Oklahoma Sooners
- Georgia Bulldogs
- Michigan Wolverines
- Iowa Hawkeyes
- Rice Owls & New Mexico State
Georgia checks in at No. 2 after taking down a ranked Auburn team. The Bulldogs kept their College Football Playoff hopes alive for the time being and certainly look like one of the top-four teams in the country.
Michigan blasted rival Michigan State en route to a 44-10 victory. The Wolverines brought home the Paul Bunyan trophy for the second straight year. Don’t look now, but Jim Harbaugh’s squad is 8-2.

The Iowa Hawkeyes were yet another team to spoil an opponent’s undefeated season, this time taking down Minnesota. Iowa controlled the line of scrimmage and kept the Golden Gophers at bay in a 23-19 win.
Rice and New Mexico State each come in at No. 5 to wrap up Herbstreit’s ranking this week. Each team won its first game of the season.
