Transfer rumors are swirling for a Georgia four-star freshman, though the Bulldogs claim he'll soon be back with the team.
This morning, it was reported that former All-American recruit Luke Ford was not with Georgia at the start of bowl practice.
"Georgia freshman TE Luke Ford, who had one catch in 10 games this season, was back home in Illinois this weekend while the Bulldogs began bowl practice. Indications were he had decided to leave UGA, though no confirmation from Ford or the team yet, and minds can always change," Seth Emerson tweeted.
It's unusual for a player to be away from the team in anticipation of a bowl game, though it appears that Ford will be back after Christmas.
"I’ve received confirmation from a family source that Georgia freshman tight end Luke Ford is not with the team. He’s expected to return to Athens on Dec. 26," another Georgia reporter tweeted.
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart then said later this morning that Ford will return after Christmas.
Ford was the No. 1 tight end in the country coming out of high school.
His departure would be a major loss for Georgia, though it appears that he'll be back soon.
