Report: Chad Clay Dismissed From Georgia After Stealing $30 Apple Headphones

The Apple earbuds, those nearly-ubiquitous white circular headphones that come with every iPhone, retail for $30. Georgia freshman cornerback Chad Clay was arrested for stealing a pair on June 20, and it cost him his career with the Bulldogs. On Wednesday night, Georgia announced Clay's dismissal. Macon.com reports that Clay stole a pair of the headphones from a fellow student, his second arrest of the year.

The incident that led to Clay’s arrest occurred on June 20. Clay was accused of stealing an unattended pair of Apple headphones at the university’s Ramsey Student Center. The headphones are valued at $30. The incident is listed on the UGA police department’s online log.

In early April, Clay and fellow freshman Julian Rochester were arrested for shooting a BB gun in their dorm room. These were remarkably dumb things to do to put an SEC football career at risk.

Clay, a former four-star recruit, chose Georgia over Ohio State last May.
