During an appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show this Friday, ESPN’s Robert Griffin III made headlines said Daniels might not play this Saturday because he’s dealing with an oblique injury. “They’re not sure if he’s going to go,” Griffin said when talking about Daniels’ status. “There’s a chance Carson Beck is the starter.”
When game time finally came around the Bulldogs listed Stetson Bennett as the team’s starting quarterback. RGIII had the initial report correct, but missed who would be taking over.
Unfortunately for him, that’s not only the only reason RGII made headlines. During the game on Saturday afternoon, Bennett torched the UAB defense en route to a 56-7 win.
That prompted RGIII to suggest that the Bulldogs might have a quarterback controversy on their hands.
RG3 just explained Georgia has a QB controversy. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

Bennett had an incredible performance filling in for Daniels on Saturday afternoon. He completed 10-of-12 passes for 288 yards and five touchdowns.
While that’s a great performance, it’s a bit much to suggest he’s good enough to take over for J.T. Daniels. Bennett was going against UAB, while Daniels faced Clemson in his first game of the year.
Those two defenses aren’t comparable in the slightest.
Next up for Georgia is a home game against South Carolina. It’s unclear who will be under center for that game.
