Fans Aren't Taking To The "River City Showdown" Name For Georgia vs. Florida

A promo for the River City Showdown T-shirts.

River City Showdown

The "River City Showdown" just isn't cutting it for some fans.

The annual SEC East contest between Georgia and Florida is unofficially known as The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party - a name that's been around since the 1950s. But given the obvious reference to alcohol, the event can't be advertised as such. One thing is clear though - the alternate name seen below isn't a good enough replacement.

Fanatics is currently selling "River City Showdown" shirts ahead of the game. Fans aren't thrilled with it. Via the AJC:

This year's iteration of the contest is scheduled to be played in Jacksonville (per usual) this Saturday afternoon. Maybe we just call it the Georgia-Florida game (or vice versa.)
