Kentucky basketball is on the board in 2019. The Wildcats just got their first commit from a junior prospect.

As you might expect, he is one of the nation's elite recruits.

Olive Branch (MS) four-star small forward D.J. Jeffries announced his commitment to the Wildcats tonight. He chose Kentucky over Alabama and Mississippi State.

Here is his Twitter announcement.

Jeffries is the top player in Mississippi and the No. 8 small forward in the 2019 class, according to 247Sports' Composite Rankings. He is the No. 26 overall player in the 2019 class.

Kentucky, which just won its fourth straight SEC Tournament, signed the No. 6 class in the country in 2018. The Wildcats landed five-stars Keldon Johnson and Immanuel Quickley and four-star Tyler Herro.

Jeffries is the first commit for UK in the 2019 class, but he won't be the last. Expect John Calipari to continue his annual practice of landed some of the top players in the country.
