Unlike many seasons for Kentucky basketball, the Wildcats are set to return a handful of veteran players in 2019-20. This includes former five-star recruit Ashton Hagans, who looks poised for a breakout campaign as a sophomore.
As a freshman, Hagans proved that he’s quite the defensive specialist. As for his production on offense, the Georgia native averaged 7.7 points and 4.3 assists per game for the Wildcats.
Instead of entering his name into the NBA Draft, Hagans chose to return for his sophomore season. It’s too early to tell, but it looks like he made the right decision.
With summer workouts in full force for teams around the country, Kentucky released photos of its players participating in drills. Out of all the pictures available for people to view, one in particular caught everyone’s attention.
There’s a picture of Hagans that shows off the incredible body transformation he made this offseason. It’s impressive to see how much muscle he added in the span of a few months.
Here is the photo of Hagans that has everyone buzzing, compared to one from his as a freshman just a few months ago:

Just judging by this picture, it’s fair to say that Hagans isn’t fooling around this summer. The sophomore guard is ready to boost his stock as a prospect while also leading the Wildcats to the NCAA Tournament.
Kentucky will enter next season as one of the favorites to win the national title, and the projected improvement of Hagans is definitely a major reason why.
