Kentucky coach John Calipari is usually very candid when communicating with the media and fans about his basketball team. Ironically, it's what he won't tell them that's making waves Monday night ahead of the SEC Tournament.
Coach Cal, on his weekly radio show, told listeners that he's made a "tweak" to Kentucky's offense that has him and his players "jacked up". Here's the entire quote, which brings new meaning to the word 'vague'.
"There's another thing that we did today, that, I'm just telling you, I don't know, sometimes it's pride that steps in the way when you're coaching, sometimes you just get blinded. We tweaked the offense a little bit and it was a small tweak, something that I should have done a month ago, and the energy in our building...I'm jacked, like I am ready for us now to take the next step.
I'm not going to really tell you what it is, what we did, but the players left like bouncy and talking and it was something that I should have known better to do and I apologized to the team. I've done this 20-something years, what in the world was I thinking? It just changed everything."
Clearly, UK fans don't have much to go on here other than Calipari's word. But they'll find out soon enough whether this tweak, whatever it is, is the silver bullet the Wildcats have been searching for the past month.
