Coach Cal To Drive Honorary Pace Car At Quaker State 400

Apparently this is now a thing.

Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari never seems to take a day off, even if he's not on the hardcourt. On June 29th, Coach Cal will be driving the honorary pace car for the Quaker State 400, a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Kentucky Speedway. The Wildcats coach took a photo next to the car earlier on Wednesday.

The irony here, of course, is that there will actually be a Louisville-themed car in the race, driven by Brian Vickers.

Calipari isn't the first college sports star to drive a pace car at an auto racing event this year either - Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron drove the pace car for the Aaron's 499 back in early May.
