Report: Dallas Mavericks Claim Former Kentucky Standout DeAndre Liggins Off Waivers

Former Kentucky fan favorite DeAndre Liggins is getting another shot with an NBA team.

Earlier this week, the Cleveland Cavaliers waived DeAndre Liggins. It was a cruel blow for the 29-year-old, considering he played in 61 games for the Cavs and the move was made right before the playoffs.

But there is some consolation for the former Kentucky glue guy. This afternoon, the Dallas Mavericks claimed Liggins off waivers, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania.

If Liggins plays in a game with the Mavs next season, it will be fifth NBA team he has appeared on. The 6-foot-6 wing began his career with the Orlando Magic in 2011-12 and has also played for the Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat.

This season with the Cavs was his most extensive NBA action. Liggins averaged 2.4 points and 1.7 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game.
