John Calipari Hints That UCLA-Kentucky Matchup May Be In The Works

Please let this happen.

College basketball fans may have a monster matchup to start looking forward to -- two of the most historic programs in the game could be facing off in the near future. It appears that a Kentucky vs. UCLA showdown may be on the horizon.

UK head basketball coach John Calipari tweeted at UCLA coach Steve Alford today about planning "big things" between the programs.

Following Calipari's tweet, Kentucky Sports Radio's Matt Jones indicated that the deal is nearly done and the schools will play beginning in 2014-15.

The teams have faced off a total of 10 times in the past-- the most recent meeting occurred in 2006 when the Bruins took the victory at the Maui Classic Invitational.

If this matchup is really in the works, it would be another treat for the college basketball world. Who wouldn't want to watch two of the winningest programs go at it head-to-head?
