John Calipari Explains Why Kentucky Isn't In Next Year's Phil Knight Invitational

When the loaded field for next year's Phil Knight Invitational was released today, Kentucky basketball surprisingly wasn't a part of it.

If you were wondering why the Wildcats won't be joining Duke, Michigan State, North Carolina, Texas and others, UK head coach John Calipari explained the reason this afternoon.

An unspecified scheduling conflict will keep Kentucky out of the tournament.

The 2017 Phil Knight Invitational is scheduled for Nov. 23-26 next year. We're guessing the Wildcats are already locked into another preseason tournament and that's why they can't make it.

It's a bummer Big Blue Nation won't be in that stacked field, but the potential match-ups we could see are intriguing.
