Julius Randle's First Purchase With NBA Money? "Something For My Mom"

Yesterday, Kentucky freshman Julius Randle informed basketball fans across the country that he will forego the rest of his college years and enter the 2014 NBA Draft. Randle, one of the nation's top high school recruits a year ago, will most likely be chosen in the first few picks this upcoming June. Earlier today, Randle joined Ryan Lemond on Kentucky Sports Radio and dished on NBA comparisons, Calipari's famous "tweak", and of course, the first thing he plans to do upon receiving a big league contract.

His answer was fantastic.

"I'm going to do something for my mom...it'll be an amazing feeling. I've seen all of the sacrifice she's put in, and all of the work she's put in. She's done a lot for me throughout my life and you can't really pay her back, but I'll try to."

Randle's mother, Carolyn Kyles, gave an interview on the topic yesterday as well. She says that she plans on continuing to work, but also realizes that she and her son have worked hard and need to enjoy the moment.

Randle's decision is refreshing - we've seen numerous stars blow their first paychecks on houses, cars and other over-the-top items. It's great to see that he's thinking about someone other than himself.
