Before Karl-Anthony Towns was a star freshman for the University of Kentucky and a contender for the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft, he was the Gatorade Player of the Year in New Jersey. On Saturday night, Armoni Sexton, a promising 2018 recruit from Paterson, N.J. was tragically gunned down in a drive-by shooting.
Sexton's death was as senseless as it was heart-wrenching. This morning, Towns tweeted out support for the family of the recruit murdered in his native state.
Very classy gesture from Towns. It's not enough to overcome the loss but the thought is heartfelt and if it can provide Sexton's family or anyone who read the tweet some comfort, that's makes it worth it.
