Kentucky Announces Contract Extensions For John Calipari, Mark Stoops

Kentucky has rewarded basketball coach John Calipari and football coach Mark Stoops with contract extensions.

Both coaches received two-year contract extensions, the school announced today. Calipari is now signed through March 30, 2024, while Stoops is inked through June 30, 2022.

Stoops has just a 19-30 record in four seasons at Kentucky, but did take the Wildcats to a bowl game last season.

Calipari is getting set to coach in his sixth Sweet 16 in eight seasons leading the Wildcats. He's led his team to four Final Fours, two championship games and a national title in 2012.

“The last eight years at the University of Kentucky have been a terrific ride,” Calipari said. “This extension shows our full commitment to each other. I believe this school is the gold standard and I’m so thankful and blessed that this university has given me this opportunity at this point in my career.”

Kentucky meets UCLA in the Sweet 16 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis Friday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:39 p.m. E.T. on CBS.
