While it wasn’t the total roster overhaul that we occasionally see with the Wildcats, Kentucky basketball will look quite a bit different in 2019-20. The team saw some serious departures.
Three key Wildcats left early, and all went in the first round of the NBA Draft. PJ Washington and Tyler Herro went back-to-back with picks 12 and 13, to the Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat, respectively.
Keldon Johnson was the 29th pick in the NBA Draft. He’ll be under the tutelage of Gregg Popovich with the San Antonio Spurs.
Last year’s big grad transfer Reid Travis graduated after one year in Lexington, after starting his career at Stanford. He went undrafted, but has a chance to play in summer league with the Atlanta Hawks.
The team also had walk-on Brad Calipari leaving as a transfer. He’ll continue his college career at Detroit Mercy.
Throw in a big, talented freshmen class of Tyrese Maxey, Kahlil Whitney, Keion Brooks, Johnny Juzang and Dontaie Allen, and transfer Nate Sestina, and there is a lot of movement for UK this year.
On Thursday, Kentucky basketball announced jersey numbers for the 2019-20 season.

Outside of the new arrivals, we have one big number change, as well. Star point guard Ashton Hagans is taking No. 0, opening up No. 2 for Whitney.
Former Wildcat guard Quade Green wore zero last season, but departed mid-way through the year. he ultimately transferred to Kentucky.
