For this year’s Big 12/SEC Challenge, we could be getting an NCAA Tournament preview as the grand finale will be Kentucky vs. Texas Tech. Now we know where and when the big showdown is going to take place.
According to KCBD in Lubbock, Texas Tech will be hosting the game at their home venue: United Supermarkets Arena. The Texas Tech basketball program confirmed the news with a tweet on Thursday.
The matchup between the two NCAA powerhouses will be their first meeting since 1994. Kentucky last took a visit to Lubbock in 1965.
The game will take place on January 25.

The Red Raiders are coming off their best NCAA Tournament finish ever. They made it to the Final Four for the first-time and beat Michigan State. But they ultimately lost the Final to Virginia in overtime.
Last year Kentucky topped Kansas while Texas Tech defeated Arkansas.
But while Texas Tech rose, Kentucky fell well short of its goals.
The Wildcats finished the year without a share of either the SEC regular season title or the SEC Tournament. They did, however, make it to the Elite Eight before being knocked out by SEC rival Auburn.
