Kentucky's John Calipari Says He "May Never Platoon Again" After It's Suggested It Hurts UK's Recruiting Ability

John Calipari is known for having a lot of one-and-done players at Kentucky, so it makes sense that his platoon system will be one-and-done as well.

For much of the 2014-15 men's basketball season, the Wildcats' coach used a "platoon" system. He basically had two teams and used mass substitutions, taking out one squad and putting in another. As the season progressed - and injuries took place - the system somewhat went away.

As he looked back on the previous season in a blog post, Calipari said he won't be using the platoon system again.

From his post:

If you ask me if I’m ever going to platoon again, my answer is NO. Last season was an absolute outlier. It’s just not the way I like to coach. I would rather play seven or eight guys because I believe that gives us the best chance to win. I think we wrote the book on platooning this year, but I hope we stick it on the shelf and never have to use it again.

You can read the rest of the post here. Calipari goes into detail about why he used the system and why he won't be using it in the future.

Some believe the platoon system hurts Calipari's ability to recruit elite players to Lexington, Ky.

What do you think about the platoon system, Kentucky fans? Are you glad to see it gone?
