Once Buzz Williams left Virginia Tech for Texas A&M this offseason, All-ACC forward Kerry Blackshear Jr. decided to submit his name into the NCAA transfer portal. The upperclassmen can still return to his original team, but has done an excellent job of keeping other options open.

Blackshear has interest from a plethora of schools, which includes Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida.

Earlier this week there were reports circulating that mentioned Kentucky and Tennessee being toward the top of Blackshear's list. Both SEC programs would benefit greatly from adding the upperclassmen.

Unlike manyof the players that entered the transfer portal this offseason, Blackshear has taken his time throughout the process. After going through all his options, it appears he is getting extremely close to announcing where he'll play college hoops.

Evan Daniels of 247Sports is reporting that Blackshear isn't expected to take any more visits, which would indicate that his decision is coming soon.

According to Daniels, it's possible that Blackshear makes his decision as soon as Sunday.

Kentucky is a "great spot" in terms of Blackshear's list, per Rivals’ national analyst Corey Evans.

The Wildcats are going to be contenders for the national champions - with or without Blackshear. However, John Calipari isn't going to step away from an opportunity to add more talent.

Even if Blackshear doesn't announce his team for next season on Sunday, it's clear that his transfer process has almost run its course.
