The efforts to renovate Rupp Arena have been one big uphill battle. Those involved with the project have been working hard to obtain the necessary funds, but have not been able to secure the more than $350 million necessary from the university or the public to make the project happen. As for the university, it is remaining silent on the mayor's decision.
There is no word on whether or not the project is still on, or if this setback will lead to its cancelation.
