Nick Richards' Reaction To Quade Green's Kentucky Commitment Will Make Wildcat Fans Very Excited

Nick Richards and Quade Green are two of the four blue chip players in Kentucky basketball's 2017 recruiting class. Richards thinks the group will win a title.

Richards, the nation's No. 2 center, committed to John Calipari back on November 10. Nine days later, a day before the signing period began, he was joined in the class by fellow five-star and No. 4 point guard Quade Green. Adam Zagoria caught up with Richards to get his thoughts on the class, and what he thought when Green committed to Kentucky over Syracuse and others. The blue-chip big man's answer should get Big Blue Nation pretty pumped.

Richards’ immediate reaction when he heard the news?

“Right away, I thought national championship, to be honest with you,” a smiling Richards told me Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden, where he watched Seton Hall edge No. 16 South Carolina, 67-64, in the Under Armour Reunion.

Richards considers Green the class' best point guard.

“To be honest, I think he’s the No. 1 point guard in my class,” Richards said. “He should be the No. 1 point guard in my class. Yeah, he is the best point guard in my class.”

The two five-star players are joined by a third, power forward P.J. Washington, and four-star guard Shai Alexander, to form what is currently the nation's top 2017 recruiting class.

Time will tell if Kentucky lives up to Nick Richards' lofty expectations, but as long as Calipari continues to recruit at the level he has since arriving in Lexington, the 'Cats will be in the discussion virtually every year.
