No. 5 Kentucky will host No. 19 LSU tonight in one of the most intriguing matchups of this week in college hoops. Both the Wildcats and the Tigers are finding their stride in conference play, which should make for an exciting game.
The Wildcats recently defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs on the road in a contest that came down to the wire. As for the Tigers, they mounted an impressive comeback to beat the Auburn Tigers.
Kentucky has relied on its superstar forward in PJ Washington, who is averaging 20.8 points and 8.5 rebounds over the last six games.
Another big reason behind the Wildcats’ success is the emergence of their relentless defense, which has held seven of its last nine opponents to shooting 40 percent or less from the field.
While the odds will be stacked against the Tigers tonight in Lexington, it’s worth nothing that LSU is undefeated on the road in conference play.
LSU relies on its one-two combo of Tremont Waters and Naz Reid, forming the perfect inside-out duo that can wreak havoc on opposing defenses. Waters is averaging 15.7 points per game, meanwhile Reid is averaging 13.9 points and 6.2 rebounds.
With Kentucky and LSU only one win behind Tennessee for the top spot in the SEC standings, expect both teams to be firing on all cylinders.
