Photos: Kentucky-Bound Basketball Player Karl Towns Named Gatorade Athlete Of The Year

John Calipari's players have collected plenty of awards over the years, and now the Kentucky head man will have a chance to coach his second Gatorade Athlete of the Year. Karl Towns, the 7-foot-1 incoming freshman, is now the second Wildcat to win the award, along with former Wildcat point guard Brandon Knight, who won in 2010. Other past recepients include LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Kevin Love, and Andrew Wiggins.

Towns, who enrolled at Kentucky last month, was sure to document the special day on Instagram.

Towns is just one member of what should be a scary frontcourt for Kentucky next season. When you make Steven Jackson look tiny, that's impressive.
