UT's Jordan McRae Calls It "A Slap In The Face" That UK's Julius Randle Was Named Preseason SEC POY

Do you agree?

Kentucky's Julius Randle already has an insane amount of hype surrounding him. Despite having never played a college game yet, the UK freshman has already beencompared to LeBron James and yesterday was named the SEC's Preseason Player of the Year. I think it's safe to say big things are expected from him.

However, despite the hype, some people don't agree with a freshman being selected as a preseason pick for player of the year. One of those people is Tennessee guard Jordan McRae, a First Team All-SEC player in 2012-13. He had some choice words regarding the selection:

It's easy to see where McRae is coming from -- accolades should be earned, not given, and it's tough to name a guy who has yet to step foot on a college court as the conference's best player. That being said, preseason awards truly mean nothing, so McRae can still claim the real POY award from Randle, if he earns it, so this really shouldn't be a huge deal.
