If there’s a better game this March than Kentucky-Wichita State, we’re certainly in for a treat. The back-and-forth battle between the top-seeded Shockers and upset-minded Wildcats came down to one final play off of a Gregg Marshall timeout call with 3.2 seconds left. The Shockers in-bounded to point guard Fred VanVleet, whose only shot was a long three from the top of the arc. His shot deflected off the side of the rim, giving Kentucky a win, and allowing the ‘Cats to advance to the Sweet 16 to face arch-rival Louisville in Indianapolis.
Cleanthony Early was amazing for Wichita State, scoring 31 points on 17 shots, and grabbing seven rebounds. Kentucky got big contributions from the Harrison twins who combined for 39 points, as well as Julius Randle, who had an impressive 13 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
