Today is the first day of SEC Media Days in Hoover, Ala. An annual rite of passage at any conference media day is multiple coaches talking up how difficult the league is, but in the case of Auburn’s Gus Malzahn, he narrowed his focus to the specific division his team plays in.
It’s a widely repeated opinion in college football that the rugged SEC West is not only the best division in college football, but maybe in all of sports. Malzahn seems to buy into that sentiment, calling the group “a man’s league” during his time at the podium today, while saying those who aren’t in it wouldn’t fully understand.

Gus Malzahn on the SEC West: “It’s a man’s league.” There’s no off weeks. Says it’s just a matter of “surviving the grind.” #SECMD15

It’s tough to argue against Malzahn on this. With Auburn and Alabama eyeing national title contention, LSU formidable as always, Arkansas seemingly on the rise and Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Texas A&M rounding out the division, it promises to be another tough campaign in the SEC West.
