Every week, Colin Cowherd gives his “Marquee 3” college football picks. This week, he has the LSU-Florida game among them, and calls it his “favorite college pick of the year.”
The No. 7 Gators are coming off of an impressive upset win over Auburn. It was a weird, sloppy game for both sides, but Florida hit on the big plays to upset Auburn 24-13.
Cowherd has significant doubts as to whether they can do it twice in a row. This weekend, Florida is on the road, taking on No. 5 LSU at Death Valley.
Cowherd like Joe Burrow to get a revenge game for one of his worst collegiate performances during last season’s LSU loss to Florida, and has the Tigers winning big over the road Gators.
USC at Notre Dame (-10)
Penn State at Iowa (+3.5)

After taking Iowa and the points against Penn State, and Notre Dame laying 10 against USC, the FS1 personality goes in about his LSU -13 pick for Saturday.
“This may be my favorite college pick of the year. I’ll take LSU to blow ou Florida. It’s LSU -13. This is easy stuff. They may be the best offense in the country this year. They’re first in everything. Points, yards, passing, third down percentage. They’re 5-1 in their last six against top 10 teams, only lost to ‘Bama, so they’re a good big game team.
“And Joe Burrow’s been very good for them, the former Ohio State backup. He had his worst game of his career last year in the loss to Florida. He was awful, 9-for-34. This year Burrow’s been remarkable. He’s was a backup at Ohio State. He’s a Heisman favorite right now. First in completion percentage, first in passing yards.
“The Gators just came off a huge upset win against Auburn. It’s very hard to get 19 and 20-year olds to get to that emotional level back-to-back weeks. I don’t think Florida can do it, I think LSU blows ’em out, 40-21.”
So, if you trust Colin Cowherd here, he’s high on the favorite. He has LSU by 19 with his score prediction, covering the big spread by a full touchdown.
At least one computer model is a big more skeptical about the Tigers’ ability to blow out the Gators. ESPN’s Bill Connelly, inventor of the SP+ system, tweeted out that the model projects a 32-24 win for the Tigers, giving Florida a safe cover. FPI has LSU with a 76-percent chance to win the game.
