LSU beat Arkansas 38-10 in the Battle for the Golden Boot trophy. Today, the Louisiana half of the trophy is far more 'golden.'
LSU smacked Arkansas on Saturday 38-10 in the SEC West rivalry, and after the game the Tigers excitedly took ownership of the giant trophy for the first time since 2013. Arkansas won the last two games in the series.
After securing The Boot, interim head coach Ed Orgeron had the Louisiana half of the trophy shined, but left the Arkansas half alone. It certainly makes a statement.
We're not sure if Orgeron will wind up landing the full time job at LSU, but as an interim coach, he's doing everything he possibly can to earn it, short of winning Alabama. Since the loss to Auburn, which wound up being the end for head coach Les Miles, LSU is 4-1 and has outscored opponents by a total of 135-58.
LSU has another big game this weekend, when it hosts the Florida Gators.
