Kentucky Survives Physical Battle Against LSU

UK barely survives LSU.

Score: Kentucky 75, LSU 70

Star(s): UK: Alex Poythress 20 Pts, 12 Reb, 1 Ast. LSU: Johnny O'Bryant III 21 Pts, 12 Reb, 2 Ast.

Story: After a disappointing loss to Alabama, the Wildcats survived against a physical LSU Tigers team yesterday at Rupp.

For the majority of the game, Big Blue held a comfortable advantage, leading by as much as 15 points, and 11 at half. But down the stretch, the Cats couldn't connect. With 58 seconds left in the game, LSU's Anthony Hickey hit a three-pointer to pull the TIgers within two points of UK, 70-68. But between the Wildcats hitting five of six free throws and Shavon Coleman missing the potential game-tying three-ball, UK escaped with the victory.

Kentucky has two back-to-back away games coming up; Tuesday against Ole Miss and Saturday against Texas A&M, who defeated the Cats at home earlier in January.
