No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama are gearing up for the biggest game of the college football season this Saturday. The winner will surely claim the top spot in the following week’s College Football Playoff rankings.
ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit is preparing for College GameDay’s show in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Saturday. After putting in a few hours of preparation this week, Herbstreit thinks the Tigers must be sharp defensively to pull out the victory.
Here’s Herbstreit’s key of the game.
“You have to tighten up your coverage — Alabama does so many run-pass options and quick slants that you’ve got to take some of Tua’s easy throws away from him,” he said, via 247Sports . “Make him hold onto the football to allow your pressure to get to him.”
The Alabama offense has been brilliant in its passing game. The offense is designed to get the ball out of Tua Tagovailoa’s hands quickly. By doing so, the opposing pass-rush is nearly non-existent.
If the Crimson Tide have success in the short passing game, that also opens up a few deep passing plays. And with receivers like Jerry Jeudy and Devonta Smith, Alabama always has a home run threat on the field.
Will LSU be able to stop the Tide’s explosive passing attack on Saturday?
