Update: CBS' Bruce Feldman spoke to an LSU source who said the the rumors are not true.
Earlier: Twitter is a crazy place. Anyone can write anything, and if enough people retweet it, stories can spin out of control. The Les Miles resignation rumor could be the latest example.
Somehow, it began circulating that Les Miles had an affair with a student and that he's scheduled for a press conference Monday morning to resign. Except that nobody actually reported it. The most anyone ever even said in the first place was that it was a "rumor", or that they saw it on a message board.
File this one under the "dangers of social media" category. Unless of course it turns out to be true - then we'll say we knew it all along.
